ACC Swimming – Age Swimming Championship

March 24, 2022

Year 7 Team

It has been a busy two weeks, with the six ACC Swimming Age Championships now complete. It was a different look for swimming this year with the modified age-based championships held on separate days. During Week 1 the Year 8, 12 and 7 students raced and in Week 2 the Year 10s, 11s and 9s raced at HBF Stadium.

The Tuesday of Week 1 saw the Year 8s kicking off the series. There were lots of PBs and a number of top 10 finishes. The 4x50m Mixed Freestyle Relay team of Thomas G, Miche B, Allegra D and Leila Z rounded off the day is style collecting a silver medal!

There were just two swimmers competing for the Year 12s. Congratulations to Gianluca F for 10th and to Jasmine M for 6th place, both in their respective 50m Backstroke events, amongst a frantic schedule of races. Not the ideal way to send you off but thank you for all the years of dedication to Chisholm Swimming!

The Year 7s capped off Week 1 in style. It didn’t take long for success with Natalie T collecting the silver medal in the 50m Freestyle and then Liam L winning a bronze medal in the 50m Breaststroke. Plenty of minor placings and PBs were achieved and the 4x50m Mixed Freestyle Relay were knocked out of medal contention by just by 0.12 of a second. In the girls competition Chisholm finished 4th and overall the Year 7 team finished 3rd! What a way to start their time in Chisholm Swimming.

The Year 10s were first off in Week 2. Places in the Year 10 Boys team were highly contested after some very tight racing in the Inter-House Trials. Five boys qualified across the individual events, the largest of any of the teams. A great team atmosphere and plenty of fast racing on the day.

Jaymie L led the charge for the Year 11s on Wednesday with a long list of accolades. Jaymie won gold in the 50m Butterfly, silver in the 100m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke and a bronze in the 50m Freestyle. This also earnt her the runner up Champion girl for Year 11. In addition, Jade K placed 5th place in the 50m Breaststroke resulting in the girls placing 3rd in the Year 11 Girls Championships. Not bad for just two swimmers!

The ACC Age Championships were wrapped up by the Year 9s on the Thursday of Week 2. The Year 9 girls are nothing short of remarkable. Every race that they competed in, they placed 7th or higher. That is two girls, in the Top 8, for every individual event!  Jasmine A collected a silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke and the Mixed 4x50m Freestyle relay charged home in the last race of the carnival to claim bronze!

Points were tallied across the six Championships. Chisholm placed 5th in the Girls Overall competition and 8th in the Combined Overall. It was tough racing under these circumstances but these are very pleasing results. Fingers crossed everything will be back to normal next year and Chisholm will continue the tradition of swimming excellence.
