Staff Leaders’ Retreats

June 16, 2022

For a second year Chisholm Catholic College joined with the Salvatorian Priests, Fr George and Fr Zyggy, at the Salvatorian Spirituality Centre for some of our school’s leaders to ‘Retreat’. This was 24 hours of precious time, set aside, for our Heads of Learning Area and Heads of Year to listen to “what the Holy Spirit is saying to us” and what He wants both for us and of us in our personal and professional lives.

Over our two Retreats, participants were invited to hear and read Scripture, pray, reflect and share aspects of our faith and mission as both leaders in our College community as well as on our own faith journey.

I thank all participants for their engagement, collegiality, support and sharing throughout each Retreat. Special thanks to Sister Chau for her sharing and faith witness. Thanks to the Salvatorian Spirituality Centre for looking after us so well and to Fr George for his rich and thoughtful presentations on the Transformative Process and Power of God to move in us and our need to be Missionary and Transformative Leaders in our work. He invited us to be living life to the full, drawing on what Scripture tells us about Jesus’ model of wellbeing. We reflected on Pope Francis’ vision “I dream of a ‘missionary option’, that is, a missionary impulse capable of transforming everything, so that the church’s customs, ways of doing things, schedules, language and structures can be suitably channelled for the evangelisation of today’s world, rather than our own self-preservation” (Evangelii Gaudium). This has powerful implications for all members of Chisholm Catholic College and especially our staff who work with the young people in our care.
