Subject Selection for 2023

July 28, 2022

The process for students to choose elective subjects or courses for 2023 has begun. To collect this data, the College uses an internet-based system called ‘Subject Selection Online’ (SSO). Parents/carers would have received an email from the College with details to login to SSO.

On accessing the SSO website users are guided through a series of steps. An electronic copy of the 2023 Curriculum handbook is also available on SSO and I strongly encourage that this document is downloaded and read prior to any decisions being made. A copy is also located in the Portals section of SEQTA Engage and SEQTA Learn.

SSO will be available to accept a student’s subject choices between the dates listed below:

  • Year 7, 8 and 9 students – Monday 1 August to Wednesday 10 August
  • Year 10 students – Tuesday 26 July to Monday 22 August (students will also be allocated individual appointments and must return their printed form to their Course Advisor)
  • Year 11 students – Friday 29 July to Monday 15 August

The last step in SSO requests that the student’s subject choices are printed, signed by a parent/carer and submitted at Student Reception by the respective closing date as noted above. This step is vitally important to ensure the process has received the appropriate attention and is checked by parents.

Please note: while subject selections will not be processed on a ‘first in, first served’ basis, those forms that are submitted after the due date will not have priority.

While younger students will be choosing elective subjects based primarily on interest, it is important that senior students also consider additional factors such as the ability to succeed in the course and post school intentions.

Parents who may have queries regarding this matter are asked to contact the College, respective Head of Learning Area or me.

I wish you luck in assisting your child select a suitable program of study for 2023.

Vice Principal – Teaching and Learning
