Earlier this term, a group of Year 9 Chisholm Catholic College Science students entered their Earthquake STEM Project into the 2023 STEM MAD National competition. This national competition is a celebration of student learning designed to acknowledge and promote STEM learning initiatives that address real-world problems and demonstrate the uniqueness of Catholic Schools; encouraging students to make a difference (MAD) in the world by acting for justice and the common good. This aligns with the Papal call for action in ‘Laudato Si’: “On Care for our Common Home”.
On the 13th of October, Chisholm Catholic College received confirmation that this project won the Western Australian State entry and has been selected to represent CEWA in the Secondary Category for STEM MAD National 2023.
We would like to congratulate Mitchell Glover, Thomas Gregory, Lola Di Dio, Madeleine Adams, Christian Campbell, Jai Debono and Sophie Christie for their excellent contributions to this project. We’d also like to express our gratitude to Sr Chau Ho and Mr Marco Ieritano (Community Relations) for their assistance in creating the video entry.
The winning finalists of this competition will be announced on the 1st November through an online national event.
