As our Year 12 students reach the final unit of their Religious Education journey at Chisholm Catholic College, they have been reflecting on the meaning and significance of pilgrimage.

Pilgrimage is more than simply travelling from one place to another. It is a journey of faith, reflection, discovery and transformation that invites us to pause, look inward and consider where we have come from and where we are heading.

As part of this unit, our students have had the opportunity to walk a labyrinth in mindful meditation and prayer, based on the famous labyrinth found in Chartres Cathedral in France.

The slow and reflective journey through the labyrinth provides a beautiful opportunity for our students to be still, reflect, pray and give thanks. Each step can represent a moment in their own journey,  the challenges they have faced, the people who have supported them, the memories they have created and the hopes they carry into the future.

For our Year 12 students, this experience takes on an even deeper meaning. As they prepare to complete their time at Chisholm, the labyrinth becomes a creative symbol of their own journey through secondary school. The path reminds them that life is not always a straight line; there are turns, unexpected moments, challenges and celebrations, but every step contributes to the person they are becoming.

As they reach the centre, students are encouraged to pause and reflect on their Chisholm journey, before beginning the journey outward towards the next chapter of their lives.

What a meaningful way to conclude their Year 12 Religious Education experience, walking, reflecting, praying and giving thanks for the journey so far, while looking forward with hope to the journey ahead.

May the path ahead be filled with courage, purpose, faith and hope.
