On Tuesday 23 May, our Senior Boys Basketball team played in the Grand Final of the ACC Basketball Championship.
Our players and travelling supporters arrived at Warwick Stadium in a buoyant mood, ready for the challenge of taking on John Septimus Roe. After a solid warm-up, the team took to the court for the first quarter.
A frenetic start saw both teams get off to a good run with baskets at both ends. Towards the end of the quarter, JSR scored three or four unanswered baskets to take a good lead at the break.
Chisholm began the second quarter strongly with some excellent shooting from Sergio Fontana and driving runs from Rico Pirone and Mathew Macri. Lazar Zec was a solid presence in defence and his rebounding kept Chisholm in the game at half-time.
After encouraging words from Coach Butler, Chisholm again started strongly but JSR seemed to have all the answers in attack and extended their lead. Roared on by their supporters, Chisholm never gave up and continued to attack JSR, but alas it was not to be with JSR proving just too good on the day.
It was a fabulous achievement to reach the Grand Final and finish 2nd in the ACC Basketball Championship which started with 70 schools entering in Term 1 2023.
Well done to all, you should be very proud of your achievements and represented the school with pride and passion.
