On Wednesday, our Senior Boys Soccer team played their second group game in the ACC Divisional Championship against Servite College.

Both teams knew each other very well after years of NAS competition and Chisholm went in confident having never lost to Servite. The pre-game atmosphere was full of anticipation and excitement with many Chisholm spectators cheering the team on.

Both teams started strongly, and it was a first half littered with half chances and shots just missing the target. Close to half time, Chisholm broke the deadlock after a corner wasn’t cleared by the Servite defense and Isaac pounced in the six yard box to score.

After the break, Chisholm gradually gained in confidence and started to grow into the game with more fluent passing and structure. Both teams again had chances, and it looked like Chisholm would hold on for a 1-0 win. However, in the final minute of the game the Servite pressure finally produced an equalising goal to finish the game at 1-1.

At the end of the game both teams and spectators came together on the field of play showing a real sense of respect, friendship and shared community with each other which was delightful to see after such a hard-fought game. The ACC Motto of “Sport in the Right Spirit” was definitely displayed for all to see.

We now move on to play Holy Cross College next week, looking to build on this and strive for our first win.
