On Tuesday 15 August, our Senior Girls Netball took on Aranmore Catholic College in the Grand Final game of the ACC Championship.
Last week’s hard fought and closely contested victory over St Brigid’s gave Chisholm confidence going into this game, although Aranmore were not to be underestimated as they themselves had impressive results leading into this game.
Chisholm made a solid start combining fast attacking play with tight defensive play to lead by 14 to 6 at quarter-time.
Aranmore began the second quarter well but Chisholm won good turnover possession to move to a 26-13 lead at half-time.
As the third quarter progressed, Chisholm maintained their composure to lead 35-22 going into the final term and on the cusp of a wonderful achievement, if they could maintain their form.
This was indeed the case as Chisholm pulled away to become Champions of the ACC.
Since its inception five years ago, the ACC Championship has only been won one by one other school, Ursula Frayne Catholic College who themselves defeated Chisholm in the quarter final in 2022.
This was to be our year.
Congratulations to all the squad and players who have been part of this team in 2023 and previous years. You have all played an important and integral part in the progress of this team, and I sincerely hope that you all feel proud to have been a part of creating history as the first Chisholm team to win an ACC Championship.
Go Chisholm!
