Congratulations to Taya Coates, a dedicated Year 12 Chinese As Second Language ATAR student, who was honoured with the ACFSWA (Australia China Friendship Society WA) Student Award on Sunday 18 May at Hackett Hall, Western Australian Museum.
Taya was nominated for this award in recognition of her passion for learning Chinese and her consistent commitment to excellence. Throughout her Chinese studies, she has demonstrated a strong desire to improve, always striving to refine her skills and achieve outstanding results.
One aspect of the Chinese language that fascinates Taya the most is the writing system. She has developed a genuine interest in Chinese characters and finds them both logical and meaningful. While many people may view Chinese characters as difficult, Taya discovered that with focused learning, they become increasingly accessible and even enjoyable.
Her dedication to the language has also extended beyond the classroom. Taya actively participated in the State Chinese Speaking and Writing Competitions up to Year 10 and recently joined the Study Tour to China to further immerse herself in the language and culture, turning her learning into real life experience.
Taya’s passion, perseverance and enthusiasm for Chinese makes her a truly deserving recipient of this award. Well done, Taya!
