Brazilian Students Experience Life at Chisholm

November 5, 2026

On Wednesday 28 October, Chisholm Catholic College welcomed a group of 25 Brazilian secondary school students for a special cultural exchange visit.

The students, aged 15–17, are recipients of Brazilian Government scholarships and are currently studying at Phoenix Academy as part of an international education programme. They belong to a larger group of 141 Brazilian students undertaking educational experiences across public and private schools in Western Australia. An important part of their Australian experience is learning about local school life and building connections with Australian students of a similar age.

During their visit to Chisholm, the Brazilian students joined Year 11 Italian and Chinese classes, where they enthusiastically participated in classroom activities and interacted with Chisholm students. The experience provided a wonderful opportunity for students to share their languages, cultures and perspectives while learning from one another.

The visit was a great success, thanks to the warm welcome and enthusiastic involvement of both Mrs Pieretti and Ms Tee and their students, who helped create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Opportunities such as these highlight the value of intercultural exchange in fostering friendships, broadening perspectives and developing greater understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
