Last week, I had the privilege of conducting our Year 8 Band and College Concert Band at their CPAF performance at Newman College, where the students performed spectacularly.

The Year 8 Band performed three pieces, challenging their ability to stay in time together and their extreme dynamics which both got comments from the adjudicator, Mr Peter Moore, on how well they had done those two things.

The Concert Band performed two pieces, one lasting seven and a half minutes. They performed excellently and quite possibly the best they have ever played either of those pieces, including at rehearsals; with Mr Moore giving a lot of positive feedback to the band. The students from both ensembles should be immensely proud of their performance and their improvement this year.
