Chisholm Care

May 2, 2024

Our students are representing the College beautifully at CraigCare Aged Care Home in Ascot Waters. We have had groups of students attending on most days this term undertaking some great projects.

Our students have been interviewing the residents using a template to find out more about the resident’s lives, families and how different their childhood has been compared to now. We are hoping to make some beautiful life stories and memories for their families, either through video or books.

Some of our girls have been painting nails and making some of the ladies feel very pampered and special. It has brought a lot of smiles and laughter to their faces.

The daily morning walks have been a special time for both the residents and the students as they push their wheelchairs around the Ascot Waters Waterways. It was such a great time for both to share their conversation and stories.

On ANZAC Day, Year 12 student, Jude D’Souza, gave up his day to play the Last Post at their ANZAC Day Ceremony. He did a beautiful job and certainly raised some happy and sad memories for our elderly men and women who contributed to the war efforts or were impacted. Well done Jude! It was a really thoughtful and selfless thing to do. A special thank you to Autumn Haluwana who was Jude’s support on the day.

The feedback from CraigCare has been really positive and supportive of the Chisholm students who have been working hard to make a bit of difference in people’s lives.
