This year, our senior students have had the opportunity to volunteer and sign up for the 2023 World Transplant Games being held in Perth this year.

There will be more than 2,000 athletes from 60 different countries participating on the day.

This Service is very close to home as one of our parents who has undergone a kidney transplant five years ago will be competing and he has given us permission to publish a small part of his journey below.

“Thought I’d let you know that I am actually competing in the games 15-21 Apr 23. I had a kidney transplant last year 23 Jul 22 due to kidney failure. I spent 10 months on dialysis and received a deceased donor kidney which saved my life. My diagnosis with IgA Nephritis was in 2010 with slow deterioration of kidney function resulting in stage 5 kidney failure 2021.

I feel very grateful that Chisholm is reaching out for volunteers. Please note that my wife Joanne and Hayden have registered to volunteer. I am competing in javelin, tennis, soccer and individual/team golf. I have included a photo of me with all my sports gear as I train hard to compete.
