Chisholm Day was celebrated on 11 September and, with perfect weather throughout the day, it proved to be another outstanding occasion in the life of our College community. As one of the highlights of the College calendar, Chisholm Day provided an opportunity for students, staff, families and friends to come together in faith, fellowship and service as we celebrated the legacy of Caroline Chisholm and the values that continue to inspire our community.

The day commenced with a whole-school Mass, bringing together our entire College community in a joyful and reverent celebration of faith. It was wonderful to experience Mass together, with students and staff wholeheartedly engaging in the liturgy. In his homily, Fr Greg reminded us of Jesus’ call to serve the world and challenged us to follow the example of Caroline Chisholm, whose life was dedicated to supporting those most in need. Fr Greg concluded the celebration in a memorable and unexpected way by teaching the entire congregation a dance. Seeing almost 2,000 people dancing together as part of their worship was both inspiring and great fun, creating a spirit of joy and unity that set the tone for the remainder of the day.

Following Mass, the College grounds came alive with an exciting fete coordinated by our Pastoral Care Groups (PCGs). Students and staff enjoyed a wide variety of food stalls, games and activities, creating a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and connection. The fete was a wonderful example of our community celebrating who we are while also serving one another. Importantly, all funds raised during the day will be distributed to the many Catholic charities supported by the College as they respond to the needs of people throughout our world.

In particular, we are proud to support the work of Brother Olly Pickett and the Wheelchairs for Kids ministry, which provides wheelchairs for some of the world’s most vulnerable children. During our final assembly, Mrs Jenny France spoke passionately about the life-changing impact of this work and the difference made possible through the generosity of communities such as ours. Students were inspired by the stories shared and by the knowledge that their efforts contribute to bringing hope and mobility to children in need.

The assembly also provided an opportunity for Mr Harvey to reflect on the privilege of celebrating his first Chisholm Day as Principal. His words highlighted the strong sense of community, faith and service that make this occasion so special. We were also treated to a performance by the 2026 winners of Chisholm’s Got Talent – Sputnik.

As always, Chisholm Day was a wonderful celebration and a cherished highlight of the College year. We extend our sincere thanks to the many staff, students and families whose hard work and dedication ensured the day was such a success. Their efforts helped create a memorable celebration of faith, community and service.
