Chisholm Gallant in Defeat – Graeme Wood Shield Cricket

April 2, 2026

What an amazing opportunity for our Senior Team to play at the WACA in the final of the Graeme Wood Shield. Playing at Perth’s traditional and iconic home of cricket was not lost on our team who arrived early to soak up this rare prospect. Playing under lights with a pink ball was as difficult as it was exciting. Chisholm lost the toss and were sent in to bat. The team struggled to put scoreboard pressure on and set a low total albeit in difficult conditions. Mazenod College were too strong and reached the total set by Chisholm with a few overs to spare. James Nairn was Chisholm’s Best Player with a breathtaking spell which yielded 4 wickets for only 7 runs.

As the Coach of this team, I am incredibly proud of all team members for the way they played throughout the entire season and their attitude to never give up. Appreciation and thanks must also go to the Chisholm faithful who turned up in force to the WACA Ground in an impressive show of community and school spirit.
