Chisholm’s Greatest Shave

September 18, 2025

Congratulations to our Head Prefects, Maia and Declan, for leading a new fundraising initiative this year! They launched “Chisholm’s Greatest Shave” with our Year 12 students, culminating in 30 students shaving or cutting their hair for charity on Chisholm Day! In addition, four teachers – Mr Hill, Mr Swindells, Mr Ricks and Ms Anderson – raised funds during Chisholm Day.

Maia and Declan’s reflections are below:

“Last Friday, for the first time, our Year 12 students and staff participated in the World’s Greatest Shave as part of the Chisholm Day festivities. Throughout the day, 30 students and staff bravely cut or shaved their hair in support of the Leukaemia Foundation, which provides vital assistance to thousands of people and families affected by blood cancer. Many students also chose to donate their ponytails to help create wigs for people undergoing chemotherapy.

A special acknowledgment goes to Maya and Stella, our top student fundraisers, who – along with Mr Ricks and Ms Anderson – had their hair shaved at the whole school Assembly to conclude the day’s celebrations.

A huge thank you to our community hairdressers who volunteered to assist us – Mrs Iacusso; Sophie Klass (Class of 2024) from Esteban’s on Whatley; Tina Del Paggio from Koko Blaq; and Sheree George Hair.

This new initiative was an outstanding success and we extend our gratitude to our student leaders, Year 12s and all members of the school community who helped the event run smoothly.”
