Last Friday night 17 September, parents, students and staff joined us to celebrate a year’s worth of musical works from the Chisholm Concert Band and Showband.

The night was particularly special as it was the last concert for the Class of 2021, and conversely also featured solos from up-and-coming Year 10 musicians (Jade Kingston, Chad West, Jack Fairweather). Chisholm Music has a strong and proud tradition of mentoring musicians in younger years, and this concert was an excellent opportunity to catch a glimpse of the future leaders of the programme. The concert also featured solos from current Year 11 and 12 Music students: Finn McKibbin, Deon Fonseka, Alex Pham, Karl Pagkalinawan, Noah Hawke, Thomas Rose, Joshua Tan, and Owen Koroll. 

The Concert Band and Showband performed a variety of repertoire, ranging from film and TV music (Music from Ratatouille, I Am the Doctor from Doctor Who, ABBA on Broadway), to jazz standards (Jumpin’ at the Woodside, Birdland). 

As always, tremendous thanks to all Music and Performing Arts staff for arranging and running the performance, and congratulations to all student performers.

The Concert Band and Showband’s last performance for 2021 will be part of Presentation Night.
