English and Literature Excursion

August 7, 2025

On Tuesday 29 July, a group of Year 11 and 12 English ATAR and Literature students had the opportunity to see Black Swan Theatre’s latest smash hit comedy The Gospel According To Paul at the Heath Ledger Theatre.

The play, written and performed by Johnathan Biggins, was an exciting and engaging one-man show that told the story of the enigmatic wordsmith and former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating. The biographical play took the audience on an exhilarating journey presenting the full scope of his life, all told from the perspective of Paul Keating, covering his early life and how the boy from Bankstown grew to be one of the most recognisable Australian politicians in the country’s history. The combination of current affairs, political history and witty humour made for a gripping performance, ensuring there was not a student who could say they didn’t laugh.

An enormous thank you to the English Department for making this exciting excursion possible, it was an experience that will not be soon forgotten.
