With formal classes finishing on Thursday 4 December, our Year 7–9 students enjoyed their last school days this year with exciting end of year activities designed to challenge, inspire and celebrate their learning.
Year 7
Students dived straight into a Science project to design creative solutions to real-world problems. The rest of the week saw them rotate through festive cooking, mathematical puzzles, team games, circus skills, first aid training, art with Languages and computer programming. A highlight was the interactive HASS experience with Water Corporation, connecting classroom learning to sustainability.
Year 8
Year 8s began by creating their own zines (magazines), combining creativity and communication. They then explored a wide variety of activities: cooking for others, wood puzzle challenges, coding and robotics, a stewardship project, video game character designand cultural learning with the First Nations team. They also had an introduction to the “Into Adulthood” Programme, preparing them for Year 9.
Year 9
Year 9s started with a community focus, making Christmas cards for Craig Care residents. Their week included trying their arms(!) at inclusive sports like basketball, volleyball and AFL, indoor rock climbing, martial arts and wellbeing sessions, drumming workshops and the rollercoaster challenge with the Stellatus team – an unforgettable exercise in teamwork and problem-solving.
Across all year levels, students embraced opportunities to think creatively, collaborate and connect their learning to the wider world. It was a joyful and enriching way to finish the school year, and a wonderful showcase of their curiosity, courage and resilience.
