College Photographs: Excellence in our community

Capturing images of 1,800 people in just two days is no small feat, but we managed it with precision and care. These photographs, destined for the Annual, will record the 2024 school year, showcasing our students’ successes and achievements. Each student presented themselves with pride and high standards, reflecting the spirit of our community. A special thank you goes to Ms Taniya Rodrigues, Deputy Principal – Community, for her meticulous organisation of this event. Her efforts ensured that everything ran smoothly, allowing us to celebrate each student through these cherished images.

Celebrating Book Week: Excellence in literacy and wellbeing

This year’s Book Week theme, “Reading is Magic,” brought a wave of excitement and enthusiasm to our school. The week focused on literacy, belonging and a love of reading. The fun kicked off with the “House Shelf Shuffle” competition, which Keenan House proudly won. Our eLearning Centre played a central role, not only as a physical space, but also as a hub of resources, including a fabulous collection of books, reference materials and activities. The dedicated and enthusiastic staff at the eLearning Centre, led by Mrs Cally Black, always make every student feel welcomed and supported. Their efforts in hosting daily events were greatly appreciated and contributed to a sense of belonging among our students.

The Catholic Performing Arts Festival: Excellence in music

Our music students have showcased their outstanding talents at the annual Catholic Performing Arts Festival. Various bands, ensembles, choirs, duets and solo performers have impressed adjudicators and captivated audiences. Special thanks to Mrs Rebecca Williams, Head of Performing Arts, and the Music Department and Peripatetic tutors for preparing our students to perform so ably and professionally. We look forward to celebrating the students’ achievements later this term.

Preparation for the ACC Athletics Carnival: Excellence in sporting pursuits

Our Year 7-10 students had the opportunity to showcase their athletic skills at the NAS Athletics Carnival on Tuesday. This event allowed them to put their many hours of after-school training into practice in a healthy competition with other NAS schools. There were some outstanding results, and with further preparation, we are looking forward to achieving great success at the ACC “A” Division Athletics Carnival in a couple of weeks. The dedication and hard work of our students and coaches, lead by the ACC Athletics Head Coach, Mr Reid Butler, are truly commendable.

Vietnam Immersion Formation: Excellence in service to others

As part of their preparation for the Vietnam Immersion in the September school holidays, our staff and students have been engaging in various cultural and personal preparation sessions. This week, they visited the TSH (Teach Speak Hear) Centre, where they learnt about programmes that support children with hearing loss or delayed speech and language development. The team received valuable tips on effectively communicating with children with hearing impairments, which will be crucial for their work in one of the Vietnamese schools. This experience has been enriching and will undoubtedly enhance their service in Vietnam.

Semester II Year 7 House Representatives:  Excellence in leadership

On Wednesday, we inducted 12 Year 7 students into their first leadership roles at high school. The ceremony, held in front of their peers, staff and family members, was a proud moment for all involved. Mr Williamson and the Year 7 PCA team are excited to work with the new House Representatives for the remainder of the year. This leadership opportunity marks the beginning of their journey in contributing to our school community and developing their leadership skills.

This week has been filled with activities that highlight the diverse talents and dedication of our students and staff. From capturing memories through photographs to celebrating the magic of reading, preparing for athletic and musical success and fostering leadership and cultural understanding, our school community continues to thrive and grow in each student’s pursuit of their own excellence, to be the best version of themselves.
