On Wednesday, we gathered as a whole College community in the gym for one last time with our Class of 2021. The assembly commenced with our Year 7 students forming a guard of honour along the perimeter of the gym for our Year 12s to walk along and join us.
We recognised the fantastic achievements of Mr Vlahov and his ACC Athletics Team who placed 3rd overall at last week’s ‘A’ Division Carnival and congratulated the girls who collectively won the Girls’ Shield on the day. Mr Bormolini spoke with us about the achievements and contributions the Year 12 group had made during their time at the College and crowned Keenan House as the winners of the House Shield for 2021.
Mr Eble announced Mia Thomas, Year 12, as the recipient of the prestigious Chapman Scholarship; and presented the College Showband with an “Outstanding Award” for their performance during the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, received by Captain Thomas Rose, Year 12.
Our 2021 Head Boy, Liam Hardegen, and Head Girl, Melanie Pham, reflected on the 6-year journey and encouraged the students returning next year to make the most of their opportunities as, quicker than they thought, they also would be in the shoes of the Year 12s. We watched an outstanding video compiled by Joshua Webb, Year 12, of all of the memories made from 2016-2021 by the current Year 12s. The Year 7s re-formed their guard of honour and the students and staff joined in farewelling formally the Class of 2021 as they left the gym from their last whole College gathering.
Our Assembly MCs this time were our Year 10 Liturgy Assistant Prefects, Linusha Rajalingham and Rita Pizzolante and they did an outstanding job.
We wish our Class of 2021 all the very best for their bright futures ahead and hope they will visit often to continue to share their successes with us.
Mr John Bormolini, Principal
