Mr Damian Walsh, the Director of The Shopfront, joined us today as part of our LifeLink Day Celebrations. He spoke glowingly of the support our College Community provides The Shopfront, which enables them to extend our combined care to many of the homeless and most vulnerable people of Perth. Once again, we have a large storeroom worth of food donations ready to distribute to both The Shopfront and St. Vincent de Paul over the coming months, which we know will make a real difference to the lives of many.
I extend my thanks to the students, families and staff of Chisholm for once again enthusiastically supporting all aspects of our LifeLink Day, which called for generosity and a celebration of compassion. The LifeLink Day Schools Initiative, established in 1999, aims to foster a deeper understanding among Catholic students of the Church’s role in addressing need in our community. It instils a sense of empathy, care and responsibility in students, encouraging them to help Catholic charities support the less fortunate. The initiative also highlights the significant work of LifeLink social service agencies, which assist thousands of Western Australians annually.
At Chisholm, LifeLink Day is celebrated with various activities, including our three House Challenges: the House Sculpture Challenge, Year Group House Line Challenge and the House Skit Challenge. Each of these embodied the theme for LifeLink Day, “Our Mission: To Care”, and the great spirit of each of our Houses. Congratulations to Prendiville House for being announced as the winners of this year’s House Skit Competition. Other results of our day and House Points awarded will be announced on Monday by our Prefects and published in our final Carolean of Term 2 next week.
Finally, we look forward to concluding Term 2 in a very positive manner next week. The Year 12s’ three days away together for their Pastoral Care Retreat will be a highlight, and on behalf of the whole College community, I wish them every blessing for a wonderful Retreat experience.
