FROM THE PRINCIPAL – Term 1 Week 5

March 7, 2025

As we recognise the significance of Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season, we take time through this period of reflection to consider our limitations, to consider how fortunate we are, to appreciate what we take for granted, to give thought to our commitment to Jesus’ message and what it means to be compassionate and truly Christian.

As Jesus did, when he took time in the wilderness to seek understanding of what he was called to do, we also take stock. We are reminded of that call to make our own time to reflect, pray, fast and at a practical level, find ways to help others through kindness and generosity.

Lord, may we be filled and satisfied by the Word which you give us.
Teach us to be loving not only in great and exceptional moments,
but above all in the ordinary events of daily life.
May we abstain from what we do not really need,
and help our brothers and sisters in distress.
May we bear the wounds of your Son,
for through his body, he gave us life.

Thank you to all members of our Chisholm community for your generous support over the Season of Lent in aiding Caritas Australia’s chief fundraising effort Project Compassion this year. Help us to help Caritas make a difference to some of those in need in the world.
