Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Chisholm Catholic College,
“Above all, bind yourself in love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” (Colossians 3: 14)
A shining light in our College calendar each year is Harmony Week, a time in which we raise awareness and celebrate the diversity of culture and heritage in our community. Today, we enjoyed a host of activities such as our College Assembly, which included the procession of flags, prayer in the languages reflective of our diversity and a fantastic performance of The Hopak, the traditional dance of Ukraine and the Cossack people. Special thanks to Mr Wityk and the Ukrainian Cossack Dancers.

Today was a wonderful expression of our innate ability to foster a spirit of inclusivity, respect and a shared sense of belonging for everyone.
These special moments are terrific expressions of the Christian heart, to acknowledge, recognise and celebrate our origins. I sincerely thank our students and staff, who have worked tirelessly in bringing these simple, yet effective, symbols of our differences yet connectedness, our individualities and our communities, and the strength of harmony and unity to life in our College.
In a world where there is an ever-present danger of disharmony, as evidenced through the events across the globe recently, we need to be as proactive as possible to be kind to others, to connect with people, to know, understand and appreciate the stories of our brothers and sisters.
Our Assembly today also included the presentation of our ACC Swim Squad, who will be representing our College at the ACC ‘A’ Division Carnival on Wednesday next week. We wish Ms Anderson, Mr Heyes, our coaches and our talented swimmers, the very best of luck and our gratitude, as they represent our College with pride and determination.
I will finish with a beautiful tweet from our late, but much loved Pope Francis, reflective of Harmony Day and all that it stands for, who once said: “The road from love to hate is easy. The one from hate to love is more difficult but brings peace.”
God bless.
Mr Simon Harvey
Principal
