FROM THE PRINCIPAL – Term 2 Week 1

April 24, 2026

Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Chisholm Catholic College,

It is always a special time to welcome back our students and staff for the start of a new term and Wednesday this week was no different. We were blessed with beautiful weather and the energy gained after a well-deserved holiday break was palpable.

At the start of any term, we welcome new members to our community. I extend a warm welcome to all new students and their families, along with Mrs Van Der Merwe (Mathematics) and Miss Briggin (Religious Education).

“No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15: 13)

I could not think of a better way to start Term 2 than with our ANZAC Day Commemoration service held on Wednesday. It was an amazing service and I extend my thanks to all involved, particularly our student readers, cadets, Chisholm Voices, Victoria – our Anthem singer and Leo – our bugler.

We may not know who our soldiers are, our generations are becoming distant from those of the past (including our original ANZACs) but it is because of those servicemen and women, past, present and future, that we have the freedoms in our Australian society today. Freedoms we’ve become accustomed to, but freedoms that should be reflected upon and never, ever be taken for granted.

Our ANZACs, by their crosses and whose crosses we honoured in our ANZAC Day Commemoration this week, have laid their lives down for others, and in so many ways played their part in redeeming our world.

Because by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.” (St. Francis of Assisi)

God bless.

Mr Simon Harvey
Principal
