One of the great strengths of our College community is the spirit of service that is woven through so much of what we do. This was evident today as we celebrated our annual LifeLink Day. It was an amazingly vibrant, colourful and energetic affair, but at its core, another super example of our College Value of Compassion – the spirit of generosity shown by our students, staff and families seemingly knows no bounds.
LifeLink provides vital assistance to Catholic agencies such as The Shopfront and many others that walk alongside those in our community facing significant challenges. Through our generosity, we are reminded that even small acts of giving can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. As our guest, Mr Damian Walsh from The Shopfront shared, the food and money donated “saves lives”.
Service is not always highly visible. Often, some of the most valuable contributions are those offered quietly and consistently behind the scenes. We see this in the dedication of our staff, students, parents and volunteers every day.
Our Music students have willingly displayed their exquisite gifts and talents – shared for the entertainment and benefit (service) of others. This was evident at the annual Music Camp, Year 11/12 Student Soirée on Tuesday night and how our Chisholm Voices welcomed guests at our College Tours this week. These experiences are made possible not only through the commitment of our students, but also through the generosity of staff who invest significant time and expertise in nurturing their talents and confidence.
I would also like to congratulate our Patricia Rodrigues e-Learning Centre staff who were recognised at a Western Australian School Library Association (WASLA) event this week. Our wonderful team of Mrs Amy Hollingsworth, Mrs Patricia Lim Sin Cho, Mrs Sarah Klass, Ms Anne Mariner, Mrs Sarah Klass, Mrs Vanessa Fielden and former staff, Ms Jasmine Hayes and Mrs Cally Black, were richly deserved recipients of the School Library Team of the Year. This award draws from library teams across WA, so a wonderful recognition of our team’s commitment to fostering a vibrant culture of reading, learning and curiosity within our College. Their work often occurs quietly in the background, yet its impact is felt by students every day. Congratulations to our amazing team!
As we reflect on these examples, we are reminded that a thriving community depends not only on those who receive support, but also on those who generously offer it. For this, we give thanks.
God bless.
Mr Simon Harvey
Principal
