FROM THE PRINCIPAL – Term 2 Week 4

May 15, 2026

Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Chisholm Catholic College,

This week is “Production Week” where our College community has had the privilege of experiencing a remarkable student production of The Tempest. What unfolds on stage is far more than a performance; it is a celebration of courage, creativity, collaboration and the extraordinary talents of our young people when they work together towards a common purpose.

From the opening scene to the final applause, students demonstrate not only impressive theatrical talent, but also courage, dedication and commitment. Productions such as these remind us that education extends well beyond the classroom. Whether performing under the lights, operating backstage, designing costumes and sets, managing sound and lighting or assisting in countless unseen ways, every student contribution matters.

I extend my sincere thanks to our dedicated staff and production team under the direction of Mrs Rebecca Williams and Ms Madeleine March-Anthony, supported by Mr David Lyons-Nash, Mr Don Armstrong, Mrs Karen Moody and Ms Susan Crouch, Mr Matthew Leak and Mr John Swindells. There are a host of other staff who have been incredible in their support of our directors and producer and I extend the sincerest thanks to them also.

This cannot happen either, without the support of our families, whose encouragement and countless hours of support helped bring this ambitious production to life.

At the heart of The Tempest are themes of reconciliation, forgiveness, mercy and hope. In many ways, the story challenges us to consider how we use our gifts and influence in service of others rather than for ourselves.

Our students of course, are central to this experience and as a community, we are proud of every student involved in this production. Their willingness to embrace challenge, trust one another and strive for excellence is worthy of celebration. They have not only entertained us but served us by inspiring us.

The Tempest has been more than a performance; it has been an enriching learning experience and a proud moment for our community. Congratulations to all involved on an outstanding achievement and celebration of our collective gifts and talents.

May we continue to encourage our young people to dream boldly, work collaboratively and use their God-given gifts to enrich the lives of others.

God bless.

Mr Simon Harvey
