Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Chisholm Catholic College,
Many people think that schools just focus on teaching and learning and managing classroom and student behaviour. This might be the case, but at the heart of this past week at Chisholm, has been celebration – celebrating the achievements of members of our community. And wow, don’t we do it well!
We finished last week by launching our annual Practical and Creative Arts Exhibition, which remained open this week. It was a wonderful display, and celebration, of the exhilarating talents of our students, the passion and guidance of our staff, and the love and support of our families. I appreciate all parents, families and visitors who made the effort to come and view the exhibition.
Each year, Catholic Education WA hosts an event to acknowledge staff who achieve the special milestone of serving Catholic schools in Western Australia for 30, 40 and 50 years. It was my privilege to witness this acknowledgement for four of our staff members – Ms Taniya Rodrigues, Mrs Jennifer Kastropil, Mr Brian Cleary and Mr Tony Ta. We too, congratulate them all on 30 years of service to Catholic Education and most specially, the positive contributions they have made to Chisholm Catholic College.
A very special annual event here at our College is to recognise, acknowledge and celebrate the unique membership of our Grandparents and Senior friends in our community. We hosted our annual Grandparents Day on Wednesday this week, welcoming a wonderful number of grandparents and senior friends of our Year 7 cohort, a special relationship that very much reflects God’s own unconditional love.
And at this time of the year, we mark the wonderful achievements of our Year 12 cohort with our annual Graduation events. Graduation from high school and indeed from Chisholm Catholic College is a terrific milestone in any young person’s life. When combining the achievements and contributions of our students with the support and opportunities of a Chisholm Catholic College education, graduation truly is a gift for, and a gift from, our Year 12s.
I take this opportunity to again congratulate all of our Year 12 students and wish them well for the bright future ahead. Our prayers are with all who will complete examinations in the coming weeks.
I would like to conclude with a special message from Mr John Bormolini, who was the previous College Principal for much our Year 12 students’ journey at Chisholm. I think Mr Bormolini’s message to our Graduating Class of 2026, captures the essence of what we hope for our young people both through their time at Chisholm and in their futures beyond.
Dear Graduating Class of 2026,
As you enter this exciting culmination to your Chisholm journey, I’m delighted to be able to send through my best wishes to all of you.
I’m sure this final year has no doubt flown by and been forged with many happy memories and achievements as you get ready to depart and take on a new part of life. Remember to keep your times at Chisholm and all of the special people here, close to your heart, along with those values instilled along the way.
I look forward to hearing about your many accomplishments and successes in the future, and hope our paths cross again.
Congratulations and take care.
Mr John Bormolini
God bless.
Mr Simon Harvey
Principal
