FROM THE PRINCIPAL – Welcome to Term 3

July 25, 2025

We have certainly returned to the second half of the year and to the depths of cold, wintery weather. Nonetheless, everyone has braved the elements and moved into the routine of the new term. This period represents an important time for students of various year groups, as they reflect on their achievements and journey to date and start to make decisions around their future.

One of the most significant aspects at this time is the Course Selection process for our current Year 10 students as they contemplate their course decisions and pathways to prepare for entrance into Year 11. The finalised My Pathway and Course Selection Handbook will see students and parents having opportunities to discuss what these future choices involve with the important information required. Appropriate guidance and advice through our individualised course selection counselling interviews for all Year 10 students will be vital as this process commences in the coming days.

Early in Term 3, all students in Years 7-11 will be expected to finalise their course choices and submit their selections online through the EdVal Portal. Further specific information, login details and various events will be outlined to everyone in this important mid-year period by Mr Randazzo, as we reach the appropriate time.

I remind all parents and caregivers that the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) requirements do change over time. The review of senior secondary pathways and WACE options continues to be reviewed and, over the coming year, that process will slowly see some changes adopted. Whilst there are some adjustments, much of what is current in 2025 remains largely the same, although information will be passed on to families when confirmed.

I had the pleasure of attending the Catholic Performing Arts Festival Opening Mass at Saint Mary’s Cathedral this week and was proud to see our Chisholm Music students chosen to perform the opening procession fanfare. The Brass Ensemble’s performance, directed by our Brass Tutor, Mr Rob Coleman, along with students from other schools, highlighted the array of talent within our schools and added great colour to the Opening.

I extend my best wishes to all for a successful term, one that is sure to be very busy, particularly for our senior students.

Mr John Bormolini
Principal
