Health and Physical Education Week

September 11, 2025

HPE Week for 2025 saw a mini festival of sport happening. Pickleball during recess was very popular as well as the students attempting to cycle from “Chisholm to St Mary’s in Broome.” With three bikes set up the students put in a great effort but ultimately fell just short of the 2215km needed. It was great to see the members of the Sports Committee helping out and encouraging participation as much as possible.

There was also a “kicking a footy into the bin” competition that drew a big crowd and long lines. The pressure was well handled by three successful students who walked away with a prize and happy memories. HPE Staff also got into the spirit of the week wearing various shirts related to their sporting achievements which sparked plenty of conversations.

Lunchtimes saw the annual “Staff vs Students” games played in a competitive yet friendly vibe with an enthusiastic crowd and music all adding to the festivities. This year saw the introduction of a perpetual shield that will go to the winning side.

To kick things off, Monday saw staff narrowly defeat the students in Basketball, while on Tuesday the students answered back with a futsal domination. Staff were heavy favourites for the table tennis and the Maths and Religious Education Staff did not disappoint with their skills. Wednesday saw two games of Netball where staff came out victors in a hard-fought affair thanks largely to the height of their shooters. This clinched the title for staff before Thursday’s Volleyball games.

Thanks to everyone who was involved in the week. Looking to make it bigger and better in 2026!
