Health and Physical Education Week for 2026 saw a mini festival of sport happening. Pickleball and Badminton during recess was very popular as well as a few students having fun with a Just Dance competition. There was also a “kicking a footy into the bin” competition happening that drew long lines and lots of near misses. It was great to see lots of new faces in the gym across the week and thank you to the members of the Sports Committee for helping out and encouraging participation as much as possible.
Lunchtimes saw the annual “Staff vs Students” games played in a competitive yet friendly vibe with an enthusiastic crowd and music all adding to the festivities. This year saw the introduction of soccer on the oval which seemed to draw the whole school out to watch!
To kick things off, Monday saw students narrowly defeat the staff by one point in Basketball thanks to a Riley Todd three pointer with a minute left. Tuesday was Soccer where in front of the aforementioned crowd, the students put out a strong team made up of ACC finalist representatives. Despite staff’s best efforts, the students proved too strong taking a 2-0 lead for the week. Netball was up next on Wednesday where staff turned the tables thanks to the tireless centre court efforts of Miss Pember, coming out on top with a narrow one goal victory. That meant it all came down to Volleyball on the Thursday. In another close game, staff came out on top by four points meaning they retained the Shied with a 2-2 result overall.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in the week. All games were played in the right spirit with over 30 staff and 70 students participating and a record number of spectators watching on. Looking to make it bigger and better in 2027!
