Health and Physical Education Week

August 30, 2024

HPE Week for 2024 saw a festival of sport in the gym. The various recess activities of Dodgeball, Badminton and Pickleball proved very popular. Thanks to Rhiannon, Mia and the Sports Committee for helping run these activities.

The WAIS (Western Australian Institute of Sport) talent identification search also occurred on Thursday morning where 50 select students underwent various testing to hopefully be invited to WAIS to join one of their programmes. All students gave their all especially during the maximum endurance test which left a few well and truly out of breath.

Lunchtime saw the Staff vs Students games played in a competitive yet friendly vibe with an enthusiastic crowd, music and student commentary all adding to the festivities. Monday saw Kai Millington score a game winning basket in overtime to hand students the victory by one point. Tuesday saw Mr Nic Italiano wind back the clock and secure victory for the staff in Futsal. Although judging by how sore and broken he is two days later, I’m betting he wished he hadn’t! Wednesday saw the self-proclaimed “defensive duo” of Miss Alicia James and Miss Lynda DiChiera lead staff to a comfortable victory in Netball putting them ahead 2-1 for the week.

Thursday lunch was Volleyball time and despite staff having leads in both sets, they went down to the students with Brandon Prosper impressing with his serving and all court play. That leaves the final results for the week tied at 2-2. Please stay tuned for a decider!

Thanks to everyone who was involved in the week. Looking to make it bigger and better in 2025!
