“In Your Head” – Zero2Hero Mental Health Forum

August 7, 2025

On Wednesday, 20 students from Years 9 – 11 attended the annual “In Your Head” Mental Health Forum at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. The students heard from a number of guest presenters throughout the day. The main speakers and many guest presenters spoke on topics of self-care, emotional regulation, suicide prevention and mental health and wellbeing.

Chris Harris – a leading youth psychologist with 30+ years supporting WA young people and families facing complex mental health challenges – including mood, anxiety and eating disorders.

Harry Garside – an Aussie boxer who became Australia’s first Olympic medal winner in over 30 years! Harry is passionate about self-expression and encouraging people to care for their mental health.

Caitlin Bassett – former Australian netball captain, Commonwealth Games gold medallist and 2 x World Champion, Caitlin is one of only 5 players to reach 100 test caps. Retiring after 18 years at the elite level she now works with athletes helping them navigate the challenges of elite sport as a player development manager.

3NA – three brothers who blend culture, resilience and lived experience into their music. Beyond music, 3NA is committed to mental health advocacy, using hip-hop to spark conversations on healing and inspire change.

Along with the opportunities to attend sessions like “Feeling is Healing”, “Men’s talk” and “Nourish the Mind”, the students came away with a wealth of resources and tools on how to help not only their friends but themselves with wellbeing and mental health.
