On Monday night we held a special event to celebrate 20 years of the Mock Trial team at Chisholm, upstairs in eLearning Centre. We had 17 past students attend, from a team in 2009 – when some current students weren’t yet born – up to 10 current students. Of the Alumni that attended, there were 7 lawyers, 3 law students, 2 musicians, an urban planner and an engineer. Our current students enjoyed talking to them and gaining tips on career pathways. I shared the history of mock trial at Chisholm and we had a video from our current Coach Hon John McKechnie KC AO, who was interviewed by Eleni Chapman and Jayden Pham.

Next, we had guest speakers, Cassie Chu Yu Chee and Georgina Due (2011-2013, both now lawyers), and Emma Campanella (2016-2018, double Grand Final winner and now lawyer). Mock trial teachers, Mr Dhue, Mr Gotti and Miss Ranalli joined us, as well as Mr Harvey and Mr Randazzo, along with Mrs Chew and Mrs Wainwright. Thank you to the many people who helped in preparing for and hosting this event, especially Mr Dhue, Mrs Klass, Mrs Collins and Mr Dinh.

It was wonderful to see people from such a wide range of years, from as far back as Christopher Minus and Coraline De Zilwa (2009-2011, both lawyers) to Grand Final winners (from the teams in 2016 and 2017). Tremaine Noel (2016-2017) and Abbey Higgins (Grand Final winner 2017-2018) are also lawyers. We also had Joseph Pusey (2016-2018, double Grand Final winner) and his sister Sarah Pusey (2019-2021), who between them had 6 years as outstanding Witnesses in our teams. From more recent years, studying law at university, are top Politics and Law student Ella Pyke and former Head Boy Owen Koroll (both 2021-2022), and former Head Prefect Maia Securo (2023-2024).
