Congratulations to all members of the two Mock Trial teams who were unbeaten this year. We were hopeful of continuing our record of being in 18 consecutive years of finals, and perhaps even getting two teams into finals for the first time ever – but alas. When it came to the end of the three open rounds, after 120 teams had competed, there were 25 unbeaten teams but only 16 finalist spots available. When the final rankings were released (based on the judge’s scores of the team compared to their opponent, over three rounds), Law & Disorder came 17th, missing out by one ranking spot, so close! Suits came 24th. As disappointed as we are, we are still very proud of both of our teams who showed terrific dedication, teamwork, legal analysis and really took on the contest in every trial.
On Tuesday, we had a team Wind Up with our Coach, Honourable John McKechnie KC AO. We are very fortunate to have had such an esteemed legal eagle to train our teams and thank him for his wise, gentle advice and great advocacy tips throughout the year.
We also thank all our supporters, spectators and everyone who encouraged or helped our team as they undertook their preparation in the lead up to the trial or on trial night.
We now look forward to next year and encourage anyone interested who is in Year 10 or above in 2026 to apply. The team nominations will be in Term 1, Week 1 next year. Come along, learn about what happens in a legal trial and try out your advocacy skills, learn to persuade a judge or remember lines and do some acting as a witness.
Well done to both our unbeaten teams. To us you are all winners!
