On Wednesday, our team “Law & Order M.O.C.K.” took on Wesley College in the Round 4 trial at the Supreme Court. This was the first of the elimination finals. We acted for the defence in a case of bailment; the plaintiff’s $150,000 BMW coupe went missing (presumed stolen) when it was left with our workshop to be serviced, they sued us for damages. It was a very tricky area of law which our barristers showed they understood and both excelled at arguing objections. Our witnesses thought on their feet during wide ranging cross-examinations and overall each team member performed at a very high standard. It was a terrific contest and could have gone either way, but in the end, judgement was for the Plaintiff and we lost 120.5 to 119.5 which means we are now out of the Finals.
Thanks to all the supporters including our reserves who worked hard in preparation too. Thank you to our Coach Hon John McKechnie KC AO for his legal guidance and feedback throughout the year. We are very proud of all of you for what you have achieved, not only in reaching Finals, but in being able to hold your own in a robust courtroom contest. We have many potential future lawyers in our team!
Congratulations to the entire team.
