As a Year 12 Music Student, I thoroughly enjoyed the 2025 Music Camp. It began when we arrived at the Swan Valley Adventure Centre in the late afternoon of Friday 13 June. We immediately settled into our dorms before setting up the rehearsal spaces for each ensemble: Concert Band, Senior Choir, Showband and Senior String Orchestra. We were off to a busy start with Choir, Concert Band and String Orchestra rehearsals all on the first afternoon. The last session ended at 9:00pm and lights were out by 10:30pm.
The musical momentum continued into the second day, despite some tiredness, with rehearsals starting at 8:30am and continuing until 12:00noon (with some breaks). After lunch, there was some free time before rehearsals resumed from 2:30pm to 5:00pm. Dinner was at 6:00pm, followed by a music trivia quiz prepared by myself and my fellow music captains – which we can humbly say was a great success (especially the musical chairs interlude)!
On the final morning, we had time for one more rehearsal session before preparing to return. We wish to thank staff who coordinated and attended the camp: Mr Pointon, Mr Leak, Ms Cole, Ms Williams, Ms March-Anthony, Mr Panizza, Ms Hynes and Ms Lynch O’Keeffe. It was also wonderful for three of our Ensemble Tutors to join us for some rehearsal sessions: Mr Deacon, Ms Wang and Ms Osborne. I am sure that, like me, everyone had a wonderful time at camp – not only rehearsing together, but bonding as a musical family.
