FROM THE PRINCIPAL – Term 2 Week 7

June 10, 2022

This week has seen many of the senior students breathe a sigh of relief now that they have completed their mid-year exams. While they wait to see the fruits of the many hours of study, I hope all students performed to the best of their ability and their hard work will produce pleasing results.

Week 7 also saw the Year 10 students embark, in earnest, on contemplating their future career paths by participating in the My Future Day. This is only one part of a comprehensive programme that provides valuable information to students (and later this term to parents) to make informed choices for Years 11 and 12 and beyond. On a separate day, Year 10 students participated in an Into Adulthood reconnection day. This cohort of students has been on a 12-month journey with this programme which provides young adults with strategies to navigate some of the challenges they currently face.

Next week we welcome back Mr Bormolini who, as you know, has been on some rest and recreation. I know Mr Bormolini has enjoyed his time away from the hustle and bustle at Chisholm and is looking forward to reconnecting with everyone.

The recent acknowledgement of National Reconciliation Week challenged us to ā€œBe Brave Make Changeā€. Let us continue to build positive, respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians. The Uluru Statement from the Heart is an invitation to the Australian people from First Nations Australians to walk together for a better future.

Loving God,
We pray for Indigenous peoples, the traditional custodians of this Land,
and thank them for their inherent care of your
precious creation.
May we learn from their wisdom, working
towards a sustainable future
where the land is nurtured,
respected and shared by all.
May we listen compassionately to the call of their hearts, so that we may achieve justice,
recognition, legislative change
and equality for First Australians.
Inspire us to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters
on
this journey towards a just and free nation,
that amplifies our
Indigenous peopleā€™s voice and boldly shares their truth.

In Jesusā€™s name,
Amen.
