Online Reference Generator

October 15, 2026

At Chisholm, we recognise and reward strong ethical practices. We celebrate originality, responsibility and adherence to academic integrity principles.

Academic integrity means “that teachers, students, researchers and all members of the academic community act with honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility” (Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency, 2021).

One way that Chisholm students can show integrity in their work is through in-text referencing and attaching a reference list. At Chisholm, we use the APA 7 referencing style. To support APA referencing, the library has subscribed to SLASA’s Online Reference Generator. This Reference Generator guides students through how to create a specific reference (rather than creating it for them). It is also scaffolded for age groups.

Referencing through direct quotes and paraphrased passages will ensure students gain the academic knowledge and practice required to be successful at school and beyond. Referencing guarantees that students avoid plagiarism by acknowledging others’ (and AI’s) work, while strengthening credibility. It also encourages effective research and management of multiple source materials.

The Online Reference Generator is accessed via the Library Portal homepage and on the Research page. Further information on academic integrity is available on page 27 of the Student Handbook.
