Patrick Gorman Visits Chisholm

March 19, 2026

In the upcoming holidays, 27 students and four staff will be travelling to Canberra and Sydney as part of the Humanities Study Tour. Unfortunately, our local member of Federal Parliament, the Honourable Patrick Gorman, will be away from Canberra that week so he kindly reached out and arranged to visit our group at Chisholm.

Mr Gorman shared his experiences as a politician and the journey he had taken to get to where he is today. The students were encouraged by Mr Gorman to have a voice and not to let their age stop them. They were able to discuss ways to be heard in our society and how to best engage with their local members of parliament.

Following the Q&A, Mr Gorman joined the students for some light refreshments and was able to discuss with them important matters like the airport expansion, future job profiles and how to entice more music superstars to perform in Perth.

On behalf of the tour group, I would like to thank Mr Gorman for taking the time to visit Chisholm and know the students got a lot out of the afternoon.
