Week 8 was one of great enjoyment for students and staff with a range of activities taking place to increase the level of activity from our community. A special thank you to all of the PE staff and Sports Committee who gave up their time before school, recess, lunch and after school to make all of the sessions run so smoothly. Some of the activities were:
Tour de Chisholm
A challenge was set to the Chisholm community to complete a “virtual ride” across four days from Chisholm CC to St Mary’s CC in Broome, a distance of 2024 kilometres. Using the stationary spin bikes, the accumulated total from each bike was totalled to contribute to our overall goal of just over 500km per day. In an amazing result, we have surpassed our expectations and ridden past Broome! Well done to so many of the students who got involved each day.
Rebound WA – Wheelchair Basketball
In partnership with Rebound WA, all of the Sport and Recreation students got to spend an hour with facilitator Clint who spoke of the awareness and insights into ways to go about making our community more inclusive and accessible to everyone. He also showed off his unbelievable basketball talents and taught the students the new skills of wheelchair basketball.
Staff vs. Students Competitions
Well done to so many students and staff who competed in the friendly competitions in Wheelchair Basketball, Netball, Volleyball and Basketball. Safe to say the students gave the teachers a good workout but still just came up short in all of the fixtures!
Other activities: ACC Athletics training; Gym circuits; 1 min Rowing Competition and Table Tennis Challenge. An amazing week!
