Our Reconciliation Week Assembly on Wednesday focused on reconciliation in action – building relationships and bridges with our First Nations allies. The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2025, ‘Bridging Now to Next’, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future.
Special guest Mr Norman Brahim from CEWA’s Leadership team and Chisholm teacher Mr Jake Ricks, both addressed the College on the Reconciliation theme and the journey Chisholm has embarked on. Mr Ricks and Mr Brahim also recognised Mr Bormolini’s outstanding contribution to building cultural understanding, awareness, relationships and opportunities throughout his Principalship at Chisholm and career and presented a special gift and message from the CEWA team.
“Mr Bormolini has not only been a supporter of First Nations people, but has transformed schools and communities with his desire for Reconciliation… He introduced the school’s First Nations Reconciliation Action Plan, tripled the number of First Nation enrolments and has provided spaces at the school for all students to feel and see Aboriginal culture.”
The Assembly also celebrated the sporting and cultural achievements of many of our students, by acknowledging the hard work of our ACC Cross Country team and Production cast, orchestra and crew. The team was presented by our Senior Captains, Thomas Gough and Madison Lill, and Junior Captains, Georgia Mammone and Zac Armstrong. Our “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” team was introduced by Chloe Langley, Nathan D’Cunha and Francesca Macri. We appreciate the enormous dedication of our students and staff involved in these events.
The Social Justice Committee also encouraged students to give generously to the upcoming LifeLink Day and Winter Appeals, with food items and warm items, and Amy Allen and Madison Lill launched The Push-Up Challenge to raise awareness for mental health.
The gathering was concluded by a moving rendition of “I Am Australian” sung by Adriel Opum, Zara Consen, Asher Jupp and Victoria Kolpa, accompanied by the Junior Choir. Thank you to Ms Kirsten Osborne and the Music Department and our First Nations Team for bringing this together.
