For Reconciliation Week this year, with help from Mr Jake Ricks, we lit the fire pit in the Yarning Circle every morning before PCG, welcoming in good spirts and protection to everyone in the college for the week. Now that it has been getting colder in the mornings, it was the perfect time to enjoy some warmth in the morning and stand around to have a chat with staff and students. Aboriginal Liaison Officer, Miss Amy McGuire, held the Aboriginal Education PCG out by the fire in the morning with the Indigenous students. They loved being outdoors and yarning (talking) by the fire to start off their day.
On Tuesday, Miss McGurie made kangaroo stew with damper for all staff to enjoy at lunch time in the staffroom. This same afternoon, with the help of GECKOS members, an incursion was run for the Aboriginal Education students painting boomerangs. The Aboriginal students were treated with Domino’s pizza for lunch with garlic bread and juice. The boomerangs painted were amazing, very creative and looked stunning.
