Year 10 Religious Vocations Seminar

August 13, 2026

Year 10 Religious Education students recently participated in an engaging Religious Vocations Seminar, offering them a valuable opportunity to learn about the many ways people respond to God’s call through lives of service, faith and discipleship.

The seminar featured three guest speakers who shared their unique vocational journeys: Permanent Deacon Aaron Peters, Dominican Sister Chau Ho, and Salvatorian Priest Fr Greg Skulski. Each speaker provided a personal insight into how they discerned their vocation, the joys and challenges of their ministry, and the profound sense of purpose that comes from dedicating their lives to God and the service of others.

Throughout the seminar, students were reminded of the universal call to holiness. While some people are called to ordained ministry or consecrated religious life, every Christian is invited to live a holy life by loving God, serving others, and using their gifts generously. The speakers encouraged students to consider how they might respond to God’s call in their own lives, whatever vocation they may ultimately pursue.

One of the highlights of the discussion was hearing what the presenters enjoyed most about working in a high school environment, such as Chisholm Catholic College. Each spoke warmly about the privilege of accompanying young people during such an important stage of their lives. They described the energy, curiosity and honesty of students as a constant source of inspiration. Watching young people ask thoughtful questions, deepen their faith, discover their gifts and grow into compassionate leaders was described as one of the greatest rewards of their ministry.
