Senior Chisholm Ministers Retreat

February 12, 2026

The Senior Chisholm Ministers Retreat was a meaningful and joy‑filled beginning to our ministry year, bringing together our newly commissioned leaders for two days of formation, reflection and community. Held at the serene Vincentian Retreat Centre, the experience provided the perfect environment for students to step away from the busyness of school life and enter a space of prayer, learning and connection.

From the outset, the Retreat allowed the group to bond as a ministry team and get to know one another on a deeper level. Through shared meals, group activities, quiet moments of reflection and time spent in conversation, students quickly formed the foundations of a community rooted in faith and service.

Throughout the Retreat, students were guided to explore their own faith journeys. They were invited to reflect on their relationship with God, to consider the ways they are called to serve and to understand more fully the significance of their roles as ministers. Formation sessions helped them grow in confidence and skill, especially in learning how to proclaim the Word of God with conviction and authenticity.

A significant focus of the Retreat was the privilege and responsibility of distributing Holy Communion. Additionally, they were reminded of the important role altar servers play in creating liturgies where students and staff can genuinely encounter God.

Importantly, the Retreat wasn’t all seriousness – there was plenty of fun woven throughout the experience. Laughter, games, shared stories and moments of joy strengthened the sense of community and helped ensure the retreat was both spiritually enriching and genuinely enjoyable.

I extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Matheson, Mr Panizza, Mr Swindells, who generously gave their time and supported the students every step of the way. Their guidance and presence helped shape a retreat that was memorable, formative and uplifting for all involved.

“The Chisholm Ministers’ Retreat was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect and strengthen our bonds as ministers while also reinforcing our faith as we all gathered in the Chapel and were reminded of the importance and impact of our roles in the College. We are deeply grateful to Deacon Peters, Mr Swindells, Mr Panizza and Mrs Matheson for joining us on this special occasion and for all their guidance they shared with us throughout.” – Amy Nguyen (12O1)
