Four fantastic teams of Years 7 and 8 Stellatus students took part in the state Robocup Junior Competition Friday 29 July at Curtin University. This was the culmination of two terms of hard work during and after school to build and code their robots to autonomously follow a course and save the victim of a chemical spill. On the competition day, the students must be completely independent and make all their own adaptations and decisions.
All the students did Chisholm proud by facing the challenges with resilience, amazing problem-solving skills and good humour. Two of the teams qualified for the finals on the Saturday. Congratulations to our Year 7 team, Ramiro Rossi and Raymond Nguyen, and our Year 8s, Zenyi French, Jayden Martin and Aarav Paul, who faced all the challenges thrown at them during the finals with enthusiasm, intelligence and perseverance.
A big thank you goes to all the staff involved in working with the students: Ms Ng, Ms Box, Ms Zhang and Ms Galea, with an extra special thank you to Mr Tricoli who led the students on their long journey.
