On Thursday 20 November, Chisholm held its annual Stellatus Showcase. This event gave the Stellatus students the opportunity to show their final project that they had been working on throughout Semester Two.
Year 7 and 9 students complete projects on an area of their choosing. They need to complete research on their topic to aid in the planning of their project. The students then extend themselves to create an innovative final project that demonstrates their problem solving and critical thinking skills.
The Year 8 students work with experts in town planning to redesign a local city area like Bayswater.
We had groups from Years 7 and 9 that built a drumkit, made a levitating train, investigated the effect of music on the brain and look at what makes a criminal, whilst a group in Year 8 extended themselves to completely overhaul a city scape to be completely environmentally friendly.
With over 150 people attending, the students had to ensure that they were ready to present in a very professional way, demonstrating confidence in communicating their knowledge, which they all did very successfully.
Overall, this was a fantastic evening and could not have run so efficiently without the assistance of the Stellatus teachers, Mrs Fiona Flower and all of our judges on the evening.
