One High Distinction, 72 Distinctions and over 200 Credit certificates – Chisholm students rock!
The beginning of August saw our Year 7, 8 and 9 Academic Extension Mathematics classes and our Year 10 Specialist Mathematics classes sit the Australian Mathematics Competition 2022.
The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) is a competition run by the Australian Maths Trust for students from Year 3 up to Year 12 in Australia and their equivalent grades in other countries.
The AMC is an engaging 30-problem competition that demonstrates the importance and relevance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives. The questions are divided into four categories: arithmetic, algebra, geometry and problem solving. No calculators are permitted for high school students. They are simply armed with a pencil, an eraser, a ruler and their unique ability to comprehend and solve maths problems.
We are incredibly proud to announce that once again Chisholm Catholic College students have achieved results well above the Western Australian and Australian averages, maintaining our high standards in the teaching of Mathematics. The top 3% of all students receive a High Distinction certificate. A Distinction certificate is awarded to students who achieve a result in the top 20% while a Credit certificate is awarded to students in the top 55% of their year and region.
Huge congratulations to all Chisholm students who competed in the AMC 2022. In particular Jaxon Debono (Year 7), recipient of a High Distinction and ‘Best in School Certificate’. Keep up the great work!
Thanks must go to all the Maths staff, Mrs Ballantyne, the College Logistics directors (you know who you are) and in particular Ms Ng for their continued support and assistance with the smooth running of the 2022 AMC.
Congratulations again to all our students, those pictured above attained a Distinction or High Distinction certificate for their efforts.
See you for AMC 2023.
