In August this year, Chisholm Catholic College once again participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) – a prestigious international competition that puts our Academic Extension students from Years 7-10 in the spotlight. The AMC contains unique problems designed each year by leading educators and academics to challenge and extend students. Approximately 350 students competed this year, drawing on their problem-solving skills to tackle complex, abstract questions.
We are incredibly proud to reveal that once again our students have achieved results well above the Western Australian and Australian averages, maintaining our high standards in the teaching of Mathematics. Congratulations to the 44 students who received a Distinction Certificate, placing them in the top 20% of all students who participated in the competition. An extra special mention to Nicholas Staltari (Year 9) and Henry Moyle (Year 10) who both received a High Distinction Certificate, placing them in the top 3% of the entire competition, a sensational effort.
Well done to all students who competed in the AMC 2024, you continue to uphold the high standard in Mathematics at the College and should feel very proud of your achievement.
Thank you to the entire Maths Department for their support and assistance in coordinating the AMC, in particular Mrs Joanne Zimarino.
Time to start getting ready for AMC 2025!
