Congratulations to Year 9 Chantelle Yee and Year 11 Blake Austin who won the Australia China Friendship Society WA (ACFSWA) Student Award. This award acknowledged a student’s ongoing academic achievement, great passion and enthusiasm in learning Chinese.

“On Saturday 18 September, we were privileged to be invited to the ACFSWA Award ceremony, where we learned more about the Chinese people, their traditions, culture and the benefits of Chinese language for our future relations and career opportunities. Guest speakers included the former WA premier Mr Colin Barnett, Hon Sue Ellery MLC Minister for Education and Training and Mr Long Dingbin, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Perth. To conclude the proceedings, there was a traditional Chinese music performance.

We are honoured to receive this award. This award has inspired us to continue in our studies of the Chinese language and culture and will benefit in providing greater opportunities in our future career pathways”.
